Fall for bargains in the Caribbean, with reduced hotel rates at favorite islands or new ones to discover. Adventure activities include biking and hiking, scuba and yoga.

The threat of hurricanes is past. The peak holiday travel season hasn't arrived.

Autumn is a great time to visit the Caribbean for your choice of adventures, whether that is scuba diving, snorkeling, biking, hiking, or sitting on a soft sand beach watching a picture postcard, camera in one hand, beverage with a paper umbrella in the other.

Or, take a yoga class. The Nevis Yoga Adventure is being offered at Montpelier Plantation Inn the weeks of October 13-20 and again November 10-18. Guests salute the sun with a yoga class before breakfast. After breakfast, the choise of activities includes mountain biking, windsurfing, horseback riding, a catamaran sail, kayaking and snorkeling.

Afternoons feature a second yoga session, led by internationally-trained yoga instructor Jim Kulackowski, and range from a more rigorous Vinyasa flow to the gentler restorative forms, including Iyengar, Sivananda and Astanga, plus meditation and Qi Gong.

Montpelier Plantation Inn is a small, luxury resort with just seventeen well appointed guestrooms, , Porthault linens on the canopy or four-poster beds, and private verandas with commanding views of the Caribbean Sea and surrounding countryside. Part of the adventure here is getting away from it all -- there are no televisions, radios or clocks in the guestrooms.

The island of Dominica celebrates Creole Week October 21-27 and 11th Annual World Creole Music Festival October 26-28 and National Heritage Day, November 3. Several island resorts are offering discounted rates for these festivals and celebrations. Here are some examples --
